La Oficina de Programas de Pregrado del ISE tiene serios problemas. Por un lado, no tienen las horas correctas publicadas. No me refiero solo a su página de Google; incluso el sitio web del departamento lo tiene mal. Notarás un trozo de papel pegado a la puerta una vez que llegues allí. Además, ni siquiera intente venir durante la hora del almuerzo; se asegurarán de que no haya nadie disponible. Quería inscribirme en su clase más introductoria, IE300. Esto no fue posible en línea a pesar de que dijo que solo había 7/60 estudiantes registrados. Cuando voy a su oficina me dicen que la clase no se ofrecerá este trimestre; ni siquiera sabían que estaba en la lista y la gente estaba inscrita. Más tarde, descubrí que van a realizar la clase, pero hicieron imposible registrarse porque solo se incluyó uno de los pares de conferencia / discusión. Regresé a su oficina y tuve que pedir que me arreglaran esto también.

La mayoría de estos incidentes pueden perdonarse como errores honestos, pero mi experiencia en la oficina hoy fue mucho peor. Me hicieron inscribirme en una lista de espera para inscribirme en IE400, una clase que tiene dos secciones: en línea y en persona. Lo absurdo es que ninguno de estos apartados está completo; de hecho, la sección en línea tiene 0/50 estudiantes inscritos y la sección presencial todavía tiene más de 20 vacantes. Nadie me dirá siquiera cuánto tiempo hasta que averigüe si puedo entrar. Lo máximo que me han dicho es "en algún momento de este verano". Pagaría miles de dólares extra para completar el prerrequisito a tiempo para esta clase sin garantía de si realmente puedo tomarla. Afirman estar esperando a que los estudiantes transferidos en el departamento se registren antes de poder darme una oportunidad, pero el registro de transferencia terminó hace semanas. Los únicos que no se han registrado son algunos de los estudiantes de primer año entrantes, ninguno de los cuales tiene los requisitos previos para hacer esta clase. Después de mencionar eso con calma, fui recibido con rudeza y gritos y sentí la necesidad de irme de ese lugar de inmediato.

Si mi departamento (MechSE) tratara a los estudiantes de ISE de esta manera y los hiciera esperar indefinidamente para registrarse en nuestros cursos de TAM, ISE vería lo irrazonables que están siendo. Esto es completamente inaceptable en la Universidad de Illinois y es mi deseo que nadie tenga que lidiar con ese tipo de actitud nunca más en este campus.
