Mi tío Mike falleció en paz anoche en presencia de sus cuidadores favoritos. En nombre de la familia de Michael Flaherty, quería agradecerles. Soy su sobrina, mi madre Paula era la hermana menor de Mike ... pero sé que todos ustedes conocen a mi tía Linda y a la mayoría de nuestra otra familia que fueron visitantes de Mike. Mi hermano residía en el centro de cuidados a largo plazo antes de su muerte. Anteriormente vivía en una residencia asistida y en un hogar de ancianos. El Soldiers Home era, con mucho, el mejor lugar para él. No puedo agradecer lo suficiente al personal por el cuidado y el respeto que le dieron a mi hermano. Le encantaba vivir allí y sabíamos que estaba siendo atendido por algunos de los mejores enfermeros que he conocido. Le encantaba la comida y es uno de los lugares más limpios en los que ha vivido. Todos los miembros del personal, desde las enfermeras hasta los plomeros, los ayudantes y los terapeutas, son muy amables y amistosos. Si es un veterano o tiene un familiar que es veterano y necesita atención, no dude en ser incluido en la lista de espera. Haga un recorrido por el lugar y conozca a las personas que trabajan allí. No te decepcionará.

Mi experiencia terminó cuando rompí las reglas. Pero si eres un veterano y necesitas un techo sobre tu cabeza y quieres salir de la calle y empezar de nuevo, es dinamita. Es como tener una casa. Los hombres y mujeres que viven a su manera quieren las mismas cosas. Además de películas en el cine.

La palabra amor es una exageración excesiva. En mi período de servicio (trabajo) tuve el placer de visitar a los soldados de Chelsea en casa y mirar por fuera el lugar parecía bien organizado y los veteranos que me ayudaron fueron muy respetuosos y estaban ansiosos por ayudar.
