Vivo en Anacortes y por trabajo asisto a los almuerzos de cámara mensuales. Las reuniones siempre están llenas de información sobre la ciudad de Anacortes y excelentes contactos.

Cuando nos mudamos a Anacortes hace diez años, expandimos nuestro negocio al área y nos convertimos en miembros de la Cámara de Comercio de Anacortes. Inicialmente, fuimos bien recibidos como miembros nuevos y, al igual que otras empresas de la ciudad, participamos en eventos de la cámara y participamos en sus sitios de redes sociales. Notamos que no podíamos participar en su página de Facebook y preguntamos por qué estábamos bloqueados, a diferencia de otras empresas, las empresas que eran más antiguas y más establecidas con la Cámara, tenían privilegios permitidos y nuestra empresa no. Recibimos respuestas vagas que no abordaron nuestra preocupación y, hasta el día de hoy, todavía estamos bloqueados para interactuar con la página de Facebook de la cámara. Decidimos dar por terminada nuestra membresía porque estábamos preocupados por la discriminación hacia nuestro negocio y la falta de acceso a las comunicaciones de la cámara en línea. Tenga cuidado si tiene un negocio nuevo en la ciudad: no vimos ningún beneficio de la membresía y nos trataron de manera diferente a otros negocios establecidos más antiguos.

Tuve que visitar la oficina de Licencias de Vehículos en Anacortes, que solía estar en la oficina de Comercial de la Cámara de Comercio. No había estado allí en años y pensé que era la misma oficina. La mujer de la Cámara de Comercio, BETTY, me miró y dijo: 'Retrocede 3 pasos y mira a tu izquierda. Dije de nuevo y mire a su izquierda. "Bueno, mi izquierda era Commercial St y dije, '¿Izquierda?' Y ella me miró como si yo fuera el idiota del siglo y dijo: 'Sí, dije que se fue. Verás un cartel ENORME, así que retrocede y mira'. Dios mío, ella fue tan grosera. Usar ese tono de voz es inaceptable, especialmente en la posición en la que se encuentra. Horrible.
